TimescaleDB
Connect a TimescaleDB instance to Lakehousecat using a connection URI. TimescaleDB extends PostgreSQL with native time-series capabilities, including hypertables for automatic time-based partitioning.
Connection Fields
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Connection URI | Yes | Full connection string. Example: timescaledb://user:password@host:5432/database |
| Use SSH | No | Enable if the database is behind an SSH bastion host. See SSH Tunneling. |
Prerequisites
- Admin or Builder role in Lakehousecat
- A database user with
SELECTaccess to the target schemas and tables - Default port: 5432 (same as PostgreSQL)
Notes
- TimescaleDB is PostgreSQL-compatible — use the
timescaledb://URI scheme in Lakehousecat. - Both regular tables and hypertables are supported. Hypertables are loaded using an append strategy based on the time column.
- Incremental Load is fully supported. For hypertables, Lakehousecat automatically tracks the time cursor and loads only new rows on subsequent runs.
- TimescaleDB internal schemas (e.g.,
_timescaledb_internal) are automatically excluded from semantic extraction.
Next Steps
After creating the datasource, go to the Operations tab to trigger semantic extraction.
