MongoDB
Connect a MongoDB instance to Lakehousecat using a MongoDB connection URI. MongoDB is a document-oriented database — it has no fixed schema and does not use SQL.
Connection Fields
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Connection URI | Yes | MongoDB connection string. Can include credentials, host, port, and database name. |
| Database | No | The database to connect to. Can also be specified directly in the URI. |
URI Formats
mongodb://host:27017/mydb
mongodb://user:password@host:27017/mydb
mongodb+srv://user:password@cluster.mongodb.net/mydb
Prerequisites
- Admin or Builder role in Lakehousecat
- A MongoDB user with read access to the target database and collections
- Network connectivity from the Lakehousecat backend to the MongoDB instance
Notes
- SSH Tunnel: not supported
- MongoDB collections are treated as tables in the semantic layer
- MongoDB has no fixed schema — field types are inferred from document samples
- JOIN semantics are not natively available; relationships are modeled semantically in Lakehousecat
- Use a read-only MongoDB user to follow the principle of least privilege
Next Steps
After creating the datasource, go to the Operations tab to trigger semantic extraction.
