Billing
Billing and subscription management for Lakehousecat happen in the Customer Portal (portal.lakehousecat.com) — a separate site from the Lakehousecat application itself. The instance Administrator logs into the portal to register, choose a plan, manage seats and instances, view invoices, and cancel or change the subscription.
A handshake key obtained from the portal is required to deploy a Lakehousecat instance, including on the FREE tier — no payment is required to get started. See Deployment for how the handshake key is used during setup.

Monthly or Yearly Billing
Every paid plan can be billed monthly or yearly. On a yearly plan you pay a lower monthly rate, invoiced upfront for the whole year. All prices are in USD.

Yearly billing saves up to 20% (Standard base fee: 20%, Premium base fee and additional users: about 17%).
Changing seats on a yearly plan: adding a user is charged pro rata for the rest of the current term right away. Removing a user takes effect at renewal; there is no refund for the current term. The same applies to an upgrade from Standard to Premium, which is charged pro rata right away. On a monthly plan, seat changes are prorated onto the next monthly invoice.
Pricing Example
Standard plan with 10 users (the base fee already covers the 1st user; the per-user fee applies from the 2nd seat on):
- Base fee: $49/month (covers 1 user)
- Additional user seats: 9 × $12 = $108/month
- Total: $157/month
The same plan billed yearly: $39 + 9 × $10 = $129/month, invoiced as $1,548 per year, which saves $336 per year compared to monthly billing.
An Instance is one deployed Lakehousecat environment (one Custom Resource in your Kubernetes cluster) — see Deployment for how instances are created. Your subscription's Max Instances limit is the number of instances that can be active at the same time across your organization, not a limit on any single instance's capacity.
