DuckDB
Connect a DuckDB database to Lakehousecat by uploading a .duckdb file. DuckDB is an in-process analytical database well suited for local development, embedded analytics, and evaluation environments.
Connection Fields
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| File Upload | Yes | Upload your DuckDB database file (.duckdb). The file is stored securely and used for semantic extraction and data loading. |
Prerequisites
- Admin or Builder role in Lakehousecat
- A DuckDB database file (
.duckdb) with the tables you want to expose
Notes
- DuckDB is a file-based database — there is no server or connection URI. The file is uploaded directly from your local machine.
- Full Load only: Lakehousecat always performs a full reload when you trigger a data load for a DuckDB datasource. Incremental Load is not supported for file-based sources.
- All tables in the uploaded database file are available for semantic extraction. Use the Filters tab to exclude specific tables or columns.
- DuckDB extension auto-loading is disabled during upload processing. If your database relies on extensions, ensure the data is materialized into standard tables before uploading.
- The maximum supported file size depends on your Lakehousecat deployment configuration.
Next Steps
After creating the datasource, go to the Operations tab to trigger semantic extraction.
