General
The General tab is the primary settings panel for a data source. It allows you to update the connection configuration, name, description, and control the datasource's operational state.
Fields
Name
The display name used to identify the data source throughout the workspace — in model configurations, sharing dialogs, and operations.
Connection Settings
The connection fields for the datasource type (e.g., Connection URI for SQL databases, URL + credentials for lake formats and object storage). These can be updated after creation if connection details change.
Description
A free-text description of what this data source contains and its business purpose. A clear description improves the AI's understanding of the data and the quality of generated queries.
You can type the description manually or use the microphone icon to record a voice input, which is automatically transcribed.
Status Flags
| Flag | Description |
|---|---|
| Enabled | When disabled, the data source is inactive and not queryable |
| Locked | When locked, the configuration is read-only. Unlock to make changes. Locking is recommended for stable production data sources. |
Best Practices
- Keep connection settings stable once a data source is in production — changes require re-running semantic extraction.
- Use the Locked flag to protect production data sources from accidental modification.
- Write a meaningful description before running semantic extraction — it is used by the AI to understand the data context.
