Groups
Groups are collections of users used to control access to objects within Lakehousecat. Permissions for Custom Models, Data Sources, Dashboards, and Charts are assigned to groups — not to individual users. A user inherits all permissions from every group they belong to.
Group management is restricted to Administrators.
Navigate to Workspace → Access → Groups.
Creating a Group
- Click + in the Groups list
- Enter a Group Name (required) — must start with a letter; letters, numbers, spaces, and hyphens allowed
- Optionally add a Description
- Add members from the available users list
- Click Create
Managing Members
Open a group and click Edit to modify membership:
- Available Users — all workspace users not yet in the group (searchable)
- Group Members — current members; click Remove to remove a user
Changes take effect immediately.
Permission Assignment
Permissions are assigned to groups when configuring objects:
- Custom Models — control which groups can access and use a model
- Data Sources — restrict which groups can read from or contribute to a source
- Dashboards / Charts — manage visibility and sharing
A user with access through multiple groups receives the union of all group permissions.
