Dashboards

Dashboards in Lakehousecat are collections of charts assembled into a single view. They can be created in two ways: directly from within a session or from the Analytics workspace using existing charts. Like charts, dashboards are accessible in the Analytics section and can be shared with users and groups.

Prerequisites

Before creating a dashboard, you need:

  • At least one chart saved in Analytics → Charts. Charts are produced during sessions (see Charts).
  • A Custom Model linked to a data source — required when creating a dashboard from within a session.

How Dashboards Are Created

There are two ways to create a dashboard:

Method 1 — From a Session

Add charts directly to a new dashboard while working in a session.

  1. Open an existing session or start a new one with a Custom Model.
  2. After a chart has been generated in the conversation, click the + (Add) icon on the chart to add it to a dashboard.
  3. Repeat for each chart you want to include.
  4. Once your selection is complete, confirm to create the dashboard.

The new dashboard is saved in Analytics → Dashboards.

AI-composed layout. When a dashboard is created this way, an AI agent arranges the selected charts into a curated layout rather than a flat grid. Depending on the number and thematic grouping of the charts, the result can include:

  • Thematic sections with headings, grouping related charts together
  • Markdown text blocks summarizing the analysis behind a section, derived from the charts' stored insights
  • Dividers between sections
  • Tabs — used only for larger dashboards (at least 5 charts across at least 2 distinct themes) to keep the view manageable

Smaller dashboards are laid out as a single flat page without tabs. In all cases, the resulting layout can still be freely rearranged afterwards in the dashboard editor (see Editing a Dashboard).

Method 2 — From the Analytics Workspace

Assemble a dashboard from your existing historical charts.

  1. Navigate to Workspace → Analytics.
  2. Click the Dashboards tab.
  3. Click the + (Create Dashboard) button.
  4. In the creation dialog, browse and select charts from your Charts history.
  5. Name the dashboard and confirm.

The dashboard is created immediately and available in your Dashboards list.

Accessing Dashboards

  1. Navigate to Workspace → Analytics.
  2. Click the Dashboards tab.

The Dashboards page displays all dashboards associated with your account, organized in three sections:

SectionDescription
My DashboardsDashboards you have created
Shared by MeDashboards you have shared with other users or groups
Shared with MeDashboards that others have shared with you

Dashboard List Features

Views

Toggle between two display modes:

  • List View — Compact row-based layout
  • Cards View — Visual tile grid

Use the search bar to filter dashboards by name.

Filter by Tag

Assign color tags to organize dashboards by topic or status. Click the colored dots in the search bar to activate a tag filter.

Dashboard Actions

Hover over a dashboard entry to access the available actions:

ActionDescription
View (expand icon)Opens the full dashboard view with all embedded charts
Edit (pencil icon)Opens the dashboard editor
CloneCreates a copy of the dashboard
ShareOpens the sharing dialog
ApproveMarks the dashboard as verified and trusted
DeletePermanently removes the dashboard

Editing a Dashboard

After a dashboard has been created, you can manually adjust its layout and content. Click the Edit (pencil) icon on any dashboard to open the dashboard editor in a new browser tab.

In the editor you can:

  • Rename the dashboard — change the title that appears in the workspace
  • Rearrange and resize charts — drag chart panels to reorder them or adjust their size within the grid
  • Add or remove charts — include additional charts from your library or remove ones that are no longer relevant
  • Configure filters — add cross-chart filters that apply to the entire dashboard

Changes are saved and immediately visible when you return to the Lakehousecat workspace.

Ownership

Only the dashboard owner can edit a dashboard. If a dashboard was shared with you, you can view it but not edit it. Use Clone to create your own copy that you can then edit.

Approving Dashboards

The Approve action marks a dashboard as verified and ready for wider distribution. This is useful in team environments where dashboards are reviewed before being shared broadly. Approved dashboards are visually distinguished in the list.

Dashboard Detail View and Fullscreen

Click the expand icon or the dashboard name to open the full detail view. In this view:

  • All charts are displayed in the configured layout
  • Each chart can be interacted with individually (zoom, filter, inspect)
  • Dashboard metadata (creation date, linked model) is accessible
  • Share and clone options are available directly

From the detail view, click the fullscreen icon to expand the dashboard to full screen. Press Escape or click the fullscreen icon again to exit.

Audit Log

Every change to a dashboard — creation, edits, approvals, and sharing — is recorded in the audit log. Administrators can review the full change history of any dashboard in the Audit Log tab of the dashboard editor.

Sharing Dashboards

To share a dashboard:

  1. Click the More (⋯) menu on the desired dashboard.
  2. Select Share.
  3. In the sharing dialog, select the users or groups to share with.
  4. Confirm to apply.

Shared dashboards appear in Shared by Me for the owner and Shared with Me for recipients.

To stop sharing:

  1. Go to the Shared by Me section.
  2. Click More (⋯) on the shared dashboard.
  3. Select Unshare.

Best Practices

  • Group related charts: Dashboards work best when all charts share the same theme or analytical question.
  • Name dashboards clearly: Use descriptive names such as "Q4 Revenue Overview" or "Customer Retention KPIs" so they are easy to find and share.
  • Keep dashboards focused: Avoid combining unrelated charts in a single dashboard. Multiple focused dashboards are better than one large overview.
  • Approve before sharing broadly: Review and approve a dashboard before distributing it to a wider audience.
